Chapter Mentorship Program
Are you a seasoned professional in the insurance industry with significant experience and knowledge who would like to be able to share your wisdom and acumen with others? Or, are you just starting out in your career, have switched careers, or would just like to connect with someone to help you grow and progress in your field? We are exploring the possibility of launching a local mentorship program designed to connect members who are interested in professional growth, career development, and sharing industry knowledge. To that end, we would like to gauge the level of interest among our membership. If you would be interested in serving as a mentor by sharing your experience and insights, or if you would like to be paired with a mentor to help support your professional development, we'd love to hear from you.
Please email Eric Richmond at [email protected] to let him know whether you are interested in being a mentor, a mentee, or if you'd simply like to learn more about the program. Your feedback will help us determine the level of interest and shape a mentorship program that best serves our members.
In2Risk Scholarship Opportunity
Time is running out and we still have scholarship funds remaining! The Chapter is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for members to attend this year's In2Risk taking place October 19–21, 2026, in Las Vegas. Through this opportunity, the Chapter will cover the recipient's conference registration fee, which is $1,149 for a CPCU Professional member (new designees and student fees are less). Recipients will be responsible for all other expenses associated with attendance, including airfare, lodging, and meals. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until allocated funds are exhausted. If you are interested, please email the Chapter at [email protected]. You must register for In2Risk by Friday, August 28, 2026 to qualify.
All Industry Day Sponsorships Needed
The success of I-Day is due in large part to our industry partners who provide sponsorships. Please consider supporting your chapter by sponsoring our All Industry Day event. For a list of sponsorship levels, visit our Become a Sponsor page here.
Member Spotlight

We hope you enjoy our Member Spotlight. Each month, we’ll take a moment to highlight one of the incredible individuals who make our Chapter special. From their unique stories and experiences to the ways they contribute, inspire, and connect with others, this is our chance to get to know the people behind the names a little better. We hope this feature not only celebrates our members, but also strengthens the sense of connection that makes our Chapter such a meaningful organization.
Matt Nuber, CPCU

LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/matt-nuber-46207343/
As a regional director, Matt has the privilege of working with more than 100 associates in Indiana from underwriting, marketing and claims. Watching others in his company earn the prestigious CPCU designation inspired him to do likewise. After reviewing several precursor designations, he was convinced that the CPCU is the premiere designation within the industry and he set his sights on obtaining it.
In his continuous pursuit of knowledge, Matt found that CPCU courses exposed him to overall industry concepts and took him outside of his day-to-day slice of the P&C and life insurance pie. Some of the concepts in the legal course have continued to help him through his time in the industry. Matt always wants to better understand the purpose of our work, which is helping put lives back together through proper coverage and excellent claims handling.
After more than 15 years in actuarial, underwriting and marketing, and now working more closely with claims, Matt knows the associates at Auto-Owners are legit. The skill, expertise, empathy, and level of communication on display is second to none. No claim is the same, and no policyholder interaction is the same. Learning daily from these insurance professionals has been a highlight, and he cannot brag on his team enough for the amazing work that they do.
Matt’s advice to someone considering or currently pursuing the CPCU designation is, “Stay with it, get back in the saddle when you get bucked off, and enjoy the networking and encouragement you’ll get along the way.” The reward will be the ability to connect teams, cast vision, and motivate those around you to be better today than they were yesterday. Adaptability is also an essential, as “the way we’ve done it” has a short shelf-life similar to a gallon of milk. Constant growth, without losing the core of who you are, is something we must all pursue daily.
Take a break: Matt’s go-to coffee is black and cheap! He enjoys listening to most financial podcasts, such as the guys at Korhorn Financial Group on “The Wise Money” podcast.
Final words: Work hard. Communicate often. Let the results speak for themselves.
