Member Spotlight

We hope you enjoy our Member Spotlight. Each month, we’ll take a moment to highlight one of the incredible individuals who make our Chapter special. From their unique stories and experiences to the ways they contribute, inspire, and connect with others, this is our chance to get to know the people behind the names a little better. We hope this feature not only celebrates our members, but also strengthens the sense of connection that makes our Chapter such a meaningful organization.

Ben Osenbaugh, Pathways

Ben is studiously working on his CPCU designation now. He has a passion for learning and appreciates the respect that the CPCU designation means in the insurance industry. Of the courses he’s taken to date, he found CPCU 540: “Contributing to Insurer Financial Performance” the most valuable. In his capacity as Claim Supervisor, it’s important to be cognizant of issues like reserving and financial health involved in claims.

As an insurance professional, he realizes that this one claim file accident may not be the biggest thing going on in your life, but it might be in the claimant’s life.  People sometimes just want to be heard, and a little compassion goes a long way. Likewise, it is important that we keep an open mind when listening. Claims isn’t rocket science, but it is important to do the job well.

His advice to others along the CPCU pathway is to “Start as early as possible!” It is a long journey, and the knowledge you gain will help in your career now. Regarding advice to everyone, Ben implores that we be dependable and follow through when we say we will. This will go a long way to promote people’s trust in the insurance industry.  Our profession can be really rewarding. We aren’t like the claims people that sit in dark rooms on those commercials you see!

Take a break: Ben enjoys a bold cup of coffee, either Dunkin’ Midnight or Starbucks Dark Roast while listening to Yacht Rock Radio and occasionally the American Revolution podcast. His final words of advice, thinking of our annual golf outing, “Don’t try to kill the ball!”

Chapter Board Initiatives

Chapter Mentorship Program

Are you a seasoned professional in the insurance industry with significant experience and knowledge who would like to be able to share your wisdom and acumen with others? Or, are you just starting out in your career, have switched careers, or would just like to connect with someone to help you grow and progress in your field? We are exploring the possibility of launching a local mentorship program designed to connect members who are interested in professional growth, career development, and sharing industry knowledge. To that end, we would like to gauge the level of interest among our membership. If you would be interested in serving as a mentor by sharing your experience and insights, or if you would like to be paired with a mentor to help support your professional development, we'd love to hear from you.

Please email Eric Richmond at [email protected] to let him know whether you are interested in being a mentor, a mentee, or if you'd simply like to learn more about the program. Your feedback will help us determine the level of interest and shape a mentorship program that best serves our members.

9/24: AI in Underwriting for Agents, Brokers & Underwriters

10/7: 80th Annual All Industry Day

We've got a worthwhile day of programming lined up for this year's All Industry Day (I-Day) scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the Ritz Charles in Carmel, Indiana. See all the details and register on our Chapter Events page.

11/18: Good Works event at Grace Food Pantry

Our next good works outing will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2026 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Grace Food Pantry in Noblesville. 12/14: Annual Holiday Party

Mark your calendars for our annual holiday party at the District Tap from 5:00pm - 7:30pm. We'll have free appetizers, two free drinks and lots of good cheer! Registration will open in late October.
