Chapter Board Initiatives
In2Risk Scholarship Opportunity
The Chapter is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for members to attend this year's In2Risk taking place October 19–21, 2026, in Las Vegas. Through this opportunity, the Chapter will cover the the recipient's conference registration fee, which is $1,149 for a CPCU Professional member. Recipients will be responsible for all other expenses associated with attendance, including airfare, lodging, and meals. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until allocated funds are exhausted. We still have funds available! Golf Outing is a Success
Thank you to everyone who sponsored or participated in our golf outing this year. The weather cooperated beautifully and we had a very fun, safe, and successful outing and were once again able to raise enough money to cover our scholarships! Our future scholarship recipients thank you!
Member Spotlight
We hope you enjoy our Member Spotlight. Each month, we’ll take a moment to highlight one of the incredible individuals who make our Chapter special. From their unique stories and experiences to the ways they contribute, inspire, and connect with others, this is our chance to get to know the people behind the names a little better. We hope this feature not only celebrates our members, but also strengthens the sense of connection that makes our Chapter such a meaningful organization.
Brian Johnson, CPCU, ARM, AMIM
Brian was inspired to earn his CPCU, and other designations, as part of continuing education in the insurance field. He was inspired to continue learning, broaden his industry knowledge and to learn different things from his current role at the time. Frankly, he was a bit surprised, as a young college student, just how much insurance is interwoven throughout the economy and into our everyday lives.
Brian’s advice to those on the designation path is: Don’t give up! When challenged to pass the Law course – on his second try – that extra effort served several purposes. He learned failure isn’t a barrier, and that final course also allowed him to earn his AMIM designation. In turn, that opened the door to his advancement as an Inland Marine Underwriter!
From his 45-year career, Brian advises that a professional should "keep learning" - no matter what one's role, keep learning. It will help with your current job and possibly set you up for a better future position. Also, it’s important to be involved with your local CPCU Society Chapter, even if you are still working towards any designation. Networking is priceless; learning opportunities abound, and you'll have lots of fun. Start by attending meetings and events. You don't have to join a committee or be a board member to benefit from membership. It’s at YOUR pace.
His final advice for anyone, especially leaders, is listen. It’s less common than you may think as some only hear what they want to hear. If one fully listens, they can gain different perspectives to make the best-informed decision. It may not be what the leader wants to hear, but it will be best for the situation to understand all perspectives before deciding.
Take a break: Brian enjoys listening to streaming music online daily from his favorite non-commercial, public radio - based in OH - TheSummitFM.

7/15: Summer Intern Event at Blind Owl Brewery
Do you know a college intern working toward a degree in Risk Management & Insurance?
For the first time, we will be hosting an event for college-level interns working in the insurance industry as they complete a degree in Risk Management & Insurance.
This event will be held on July 15, 2026 from 5pm - 7pm at Blind Owl Brewery at 5014 E. 62nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46220. See our website for more details.

7/23: RIMS Lunch Event
Central Indiana CPCU Society Chapter board members David Paul, Eric Richmond, and Alicia Peetz will be speaking at the July 23rd RIMS lunch to present the benefits of a CPCU designation and membership in the CPCU Society and local chapter. We'd love to see some chapter members attend! Location is Cooper's Hawk Winery on 96th St. in Indianapolis.

7/31: Good Works Event
We'll be volunteering at St. Mary's Childhood Center in Indianapolis on July 31, 2026 from 9:00am - 12:00pm. We would love your help in supporting this wonderful organization. 8/20: New Designee Welcome
Mark your calendars for our annual new designee welcome event and summer social. All members are welcome as we invite our 2026 new designees to meet the members of the Central Indiana CPCU Society Chapter. This year we'll be back at Sun King Brewery in Carmel on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Online registration will open in July.
10/7: All Industry Day - Save the Date!
Mark your calendars! The date for this year's All Industry Day (I-Day) is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the Ritz Charles in Carmel, Indiana. Our committee is hard at work lining up informative and captivating speakers for our seminars and keynote. Keep an eye on our website's Chapter Events page in late summer to register.
